Kodiaks Women's Basketball Team Advances to Nationals


The Kodiaks women's basketball team is going to nationals. A second-place finish in the ACAC Championship was enough to give Lethbridge College one of two wildcard berths. The top eight teams from across Canada will compete at UBC Okanagan March 18th to 20th. The Kodiaks won the national bronze medal last year.

Hurricanes Beat Red Deer 5-2


Mar 9/10 - A four goal second period lifted the Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the Red Deer Rebels Tuesday night.  Cam Braes scored twice for the Canes', while Carter Bancks, Austin Fyten, and Jacob Berglund scored the others.  Red Deer out shot Lethbridge 31-28.  The win improves the Canes' record to 20-42-5-3.  Lethbridge went 2 for 8 on the power play while Red Deer went 0 for 7.  The Hurricanes play their final two games of the season this weekend when they play back-to-back games against the Medicine Hat Tigers.  Friday's contest at the Enmax Centre starts at 7pm (MT).

Warriors Beat Hurricanes 5-2


Mar 6/10 - Three goals in the second period proved to be the difference as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Hurricanes 5-2 Saturday night.  Carter Bancks and Reid Jackson scored for Lethbridge.  Moose Jaw out shot Lethbridge 40-17.   The loss drops the Hurricanes overall record to 19-42-5-3 in 69 games. The Hurricanes return home to play their final three game of the season.  Tuesday they host Red Deer at the Enmax Centre.  Game time is 7pm (MT).

Canes' Lose 4-2 in Regina


Mar 5/10 - Jordan Weal score twice as the Regina Pats spoiled Linden Rowat's return to the Brandt Centre as the Pats beat the Hurricanes 4-2 Friday night.  Carter Bancks scored twice for Lethbridge in a losing cause.  The Pats out shot Lethbridge 31-22.  The loss drops the Canes' overall record to 19-41-5-3 in 68 games.  The Hurricanes next action is Saturday when they play the Warriors in Moose Jaw.  Game time is 6pm (MT).

Lethbridge Hall of Fame Inductees Announced


Mar 5/10 - The Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame has announced the inductees that will be honored at this year's ceremony and banquet. The list includes two teams, three athletes, four builders and two people in the special award category. Hall of Fame Board President Jon Doan says it will be a special evening, because it's the 25th Anniversary for the Hall. The Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony is scheduled for May 1st at the Coast Hotel.
